US President Donald Trump will speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this Friday, including about reports that Ukraine allegedly wants to launch a new offensive on the front lines, according to Trump’s press conference at the White House.

“We will be talking about the war with him. And we will be talking about... I mean, they wanna go offensive,” he said.

The US President promised to decide on that.

He once again emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would like to launch an offensive and that a decision will have to be made.

Donald Trump also added, “All we want from President Putin is to stop killing Ukrainians and Russians."

Earlier, in his evening address, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the meeting with Donald Trump, scheduled for October 17, is expected to be highly substantive and could genuinely bring the end of the war in Ukraine closer.

He added that several Ukrainian officials are currently in the US, including Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsya, Ambassador of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, and other government representatives.

Zelenskyy–Trump meeting

A few days ago, it was reported that Zelenskyy would likely meet with Trump in Washington on October 17. The leaders plan to discuss, first and foremost, long-range weapons, strengthening air defense, sanctions against Russia, and energy security.

Zelenskyy last met with Trump on September 23 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and described that meeting as productive.
