During a meeting with journalists at the White House, US President Donald Trump reacted to the open letter from Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Russian leader Putin. The US president believes that the parties need to compromise, according to a White House broadcast.
Journalists asked Trump what he thinks about the idea of a meeting between the two leaders. The press hinted that such a decision by Zelenskyy may be due to the fact that the US is currently occupied with the war in Iran.
Trump replied that it is a very good idea. He called both heads of state good people who need to make compromises so that up to 45,000 people do not die at the front every month.

"But I think it would be great if they met," said the US president.
What is known about Zelenskyy's open letter to Putin
In his open address, the Ukrainian leader revealed to the Russian leader the number of losses of Russian units at the front. Zelenskyy proposed holding negotiations and, for that time, ceasing fire along the front line. The Ukrainian president also proposed a prisoner exchange on a one-for-one basis.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has already reacted to Zelenskyy's letter. Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that they would certainly review the message to Putin.
