Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had received a fresh report on Russian military losses on the battlefield in Ukraine for May. According to him, the figures once again indicate more than 30,000 Russian servicemen killed or seriously wounded.
"We have been maintaining that level month after month, and we have video confirmation of every one of your losses — these are not empty claims. We know that 63 percent of your battlefield losses are killed, while only 37 percent are wounded. In the 21st century, no army can afford such a ratio. And the share of those killed will continue to grow," Zelenskyy stressed.
At the same time, Zelenskyy said Ukraine does not view these figures through the lens of sympathy for the enemy, recalling the consequences of the war for the Ukrainian side.
He also emphasized that preserving the lives of Ukrainian service members remains a key priority for Ukraine.
"We are losing our people, and every loss is painful to us. Even when the ratio of Ukrainian losses to Russian losses is one to five or one to six, it still matters greatly," the president concluded.
In his open letter, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed holding a face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
