Trump announces he will debate Harris
Former US President Donald Trump intends to hold a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. He emphasizes that he is ready to meet with her more than once, Politico reports.
The next debate, scheduled for September 10, will be hosted by ABC News. In recent days, Trump has insisted that the debate be hosted by the more conservative Fox News channel, calling ABC “a joke.”
However, during a conference call with reporters, Trump said he would debate Harris, regardless of whether it was ABC, and said he "would be willing to do more than one debate actually".
While Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the ABC program, which he watched on Monday and found favorable to President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, he emphasized the importance of debates to the presidential race.
“I think if you’re the Democrat nominee or the Republican nominee, you really have an obligation to debate,” Trump said.
Biden's withdrawal from presidential race
On July 21, incumbent US President Joe Biden withdrew his candidacy from the election scheduled for November 5, 2024. This decision was made due to health problems and his defeat to Trump in the first round of debates.
Instead of Biden, the new potential Democratic candidate is Vice President Kamala Harris, who has already gathered enough votes within the party to be nominated for president.
According to the latest poll, Harris is ahead of Trump.
