Trump and Zelenskyy to meet at G7 summit – Axios

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, will meet during the G7 summit. The last time they met was during Pope Francis' funeral in April, according to Axios.
On April 15, an unnamed White House official said that Trump would meet with Zelenskyy, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum during the G7 summit.
What to expect from G7
The meeting will take place against the backdrop of the war between Israel and Iran, while, according to Axios, the United States is facing deepening differences with other allies over Gaza, Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and American tariffs.
The 51st summit will be held from Sunday to Tuesday in the remote resort town of Kananaskis in the western province of Alberta. This town hosted the G8 in 2002.
The G7 includes the leaders of the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Germany, and Britain. The meeting may also be attended by:
- representatives of the European Union;
- other leaders of countries that are not members of the G7, but were invited by Carney.
The summit will also be attended for the first time by:
- German Chancellor Friedrich Merz;
- British Prime Minister Keir Starmer;
- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
"Trump is traveling to Canada after repeatedly threatening the northern neighbor's sovereignty. He for months expressed interest in annexing Canada and has engaged the allied nation in a tariff war," Axios reports.
