Trump and von der Leyen to discuss EU–US trade deal in Scotland

US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen have agreed to meet in Scotland to discuss trade relations between the EU and the US, von der Leyen announced.
"Following a good call with Donald Trump, we have agreed to meet in Scotland on Sunday to discuss transatlantic trade relations, and how we can keep them strong," she said.
According to the President of the European Commission, the goal of the meeting is to preserve strong trade relations between the EU and the US.
EU and US trade deal plans
US President Donald Trump has promised to impose tariffs on the European Union starting August 1. The only way to avoid this situation is the conclusion of a trade agreement.
Recently, Bloomberg, citing its own sources, reported that the European Union is even ready to accept an unfavorable deal with the US to avoid tariffs.
However, journalists clarified that there has been no breakthrough yet in the matter of the trade deal between the EU and the US.
Bloomberg sources also noted that EU ambassadors have already begun preparing retaliatory measures in case the trade agreement with the US cannot be reached.
