Trump and Putin agree on steps toward peace in Ukraine - No strikes on energy sector

US President Donald Trump had a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They agreed to start the path toward a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, according to a statement from the White House.
Today, Trump and Putin discussed the issue of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. During the conversation, "the leaders agreed this conflict needs to end with a lasting peace."
According to the White House, Putin and Trump agreed on the first steps toward peace in Ukraine.
"The leaders agreed that the movement to peace will begin with an energy and infrastructure ceasefire, as well as technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, full ceasefire and permanent peace," the White House statement reads.
The United States announced that these negotiations would begin immediately in the Middle East. Trump and Putin also "agreed that a future with an improved bilateral relationship between the United States and Russia has huge upside."
Additionally, we reported that Putin, during his conversation with Trump, emphasized the need to halt Ukraine's mobilization and the rearming of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the event of a ceasefire.
It should be noted that Russia has repeatedly made statements about halting attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, though these promises have been violated several times. Specifically, last spring, Russian strikes on energy infrastructure led to widespread power outages in Ukraine, lasting from May to September.
