Trump acknowledges Russia as responsible for war against Ukraine

US President Donald Trump emphasized that Russia is responsible for the war against Ukraine. However, there was no reason for such aggression, Trump's words were cited by CBS News correspondent Jennifer Jacobs on Twitter (X).
"Russia attacked. But there was no reason for them to attack," Trump said.
He clarified that Russia's war against Ukraine "should never have happened."
According to Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly wants to make a peace deal.
Putin "wants to make a deal. And he doesn't have to make a deal, because if he wanted, he'd get the whole country," he added.
Trump also assured that he is "not trying to make Putin look better or kinder."
Controversial US decisions and statements
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that the US opposed the use of the term "Russian aggression" in the G7 leaders' statement marking the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had done "a terrible job, and now his country is destroyed."
Trump also blamed former President Joe Biden for the start of Russia's war against Ukraine, arguing that he "allowed Ukraine’s NATO membership."
