US President Donald Trump stated that the war in Ukraine is the fault of former US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump stated on Truth Social.

"The War between Russia and Ukraine is Biden’s war, not mine. I just got here, and for four years during my term, had no problem in preventing it from happening. President Putin, and everyone else, respected your President! I had nothing to do with this war, but am working diligently to get the death and destruction to stop," Trump stated.

According to him, if the US presidential election had not been allegedly rigged in 2020, “that horrible War would never have happened.”

"President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin. There were so many ways of preventing it from ever starting. But that is the past. Now we have to get it to stop, and fast," Trump said.

Not Trump’s first statements

Trump had repeatedly promised to end the war in Ukraine during his election campaign. However, after assuming office as US President, he began making pro-Russian statements and essentially blamed the Ukrainian leadership for starting the war.

Previously, Trump claimed that Zelenskyy was a “dictator without elections,” arguing that during three years of war, he had done nothing to end it. Just days later, however, Trump said Russia was responsible for the war, but also shifted the blame onto Zelenskyy and former US President Joe Biden.

Trump later criticized Zelenskyy’s statement that peace between Ukraine and Russia was “still very far away,” calling it “the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy".

Trump has also claimed he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. However, with each similar statement, that timeline has become more vague.

Recently, Trump again stated that the US hopes to reach an agreement with both Ukraine and Russia to stop the fighting relatively soon.

“We hope that we're going to be able to make a deal relatively soon with Russia and Ukraine to stop the fighting,” Trump noted.

At the same time, he called yesterday’s ballistic missile strike on the city of Sumy a terrible mistake.

“I was told they made a mistake, it was terrible,” Trump told reporters.
