The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained an instructor pilot of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who was spying for Russian military intelligence. The traitor was transmitting data to the enemy about the deployment of F-16, Mirage 2000, and Su-24 fighter jets, the SBU reports.

Ukrainian operatives have detained yet another Russian spy within the Ukrainian Air Force.

He turned out to be an instructor pilot, a major in one of the Ukrainian forces' aviation brigades. The unit where this individual served carries out combat missions to shoot down enemy missiles and drones, as well as strikes on ground targets in support of the Ukrainian army operations from the air.

The investigation revealed that this agent was performing several hostile tasks simultaneously.

He was passing information used to prepare new missile and drone attacks by Russia on Ukrainian Air Force facilities. In particular, the enemy's priority targets were airfields where the following aircraft are based:

  • F-16;
  • Mirage 2000;
  • Su-24.

The agent was gathering coordinates of these aircraft locations, schedules, and the rotation principle for their flights.

In addition, to ensure the success of an enemy strike, the traitor compiled and passed along to the Russians an analytical report outlining, in his opinion, the appropriate tactics for conducting combined strikes.

This was meant to help the enemy launch a strike, bypassing the defenses of the relevant military facilities.

Furthermore, the agent passed personal data of Ukrainian Air Force pilots to Russian military intelligence:

  • aircraft tail numbers;
  • armament of their jets;
  • combat flight tactics.

To maintain cover, the individual contacted the Russian intelligence officer through an anonymous email channel and used secret chats in messaging apps.

SSU operatives documented the agent's crimes and detained him as he attempted to gather a new piece of information.

Investigators of the Security Service plan to notify the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely, high treason committed under martial law.

The offender faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

This is already the second such spy today. Earlier, the SSU operatives uncovered a Russian agent among the Defense Forces. The man was preparing an enemy breakthrough in the Kharkiv region.

Recently, the Security Service operatives detained an FSB agent in Kyiv who worked as an employee of the Central Office of NABU. According to RBC-Ukraine sources, this refers to Viktor Husarov.

Furthermore, NABU reported the exposure of an SBU official involved in a record-breaking bribe. The Bureau released case materials regarding the officer suspected of demanding $300,000 to destroy part of a case file related to the smuggling of conscripts abroad.
