'They are asking for too much': US slams Russia’s demands to end war in Ukraine

The United States believes that Russia is making excessive demands to end the war. Despite this, negotiations to achieve peace are ongoing, stated US Vice President JD Vance.
According to Vance, US President Donald Trump is forcing the Russians to say: "Here’s what we would like to get to end the conflict".
"You could think that the request is too significant. And certainly, the first peace offer that the Russians put on the table, our reaction to it was: 'You are asking for too much'. But this is how the negotiations unfold," said Vance.
Vance also noted that it cannot be said that the Russians are not interested in resolving this issue.
"The Russians are asking for a certain set of requirements, a certain set of concessions in order to end the conflict. We think they’re asking for too much," he said.
At the same time, Vance emphasized that Ukrainians are also important because they are the other party in the conflict.
"And we have to ask, what do they need in order to bring this conflict to a successful completion? And we're going to continue to have this conversation," he added.
The United States is trying to end the war in Ukraine
The United States has been actively involved in finding a way to end the war in Ukraine, supporting diplomatic efforts and negotiating with both sides of the conflict. However, Washington has recently expressed concern over the lack of progress.
The US State Department has repeatedly emphasized that further participation in the peace process depends on constructive positions of Kyiv and Moscow. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce noted that if there is no progress, the United States may step back from the role of mediator in the negotiations.
US President Donald Trump admitted that negotiations to end the war in Ukraine are more difficult than expected and that reaching an agreement will take more time and effort.
