The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense has supported the legislative initiatives introduced by the President regarding the extension of martial law and general mobilization, according to the People's Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak.

As reported, 17 committee members voted "in favor" of the proposals.

The extension of martial law and mobilization is proposed for an additional 90 days (until November 15, 2023).

According to the deputy, these decisions must now be approved by the parliament (226+ votes), and "this will happen very soon."

Extension of martial law and mobilization

On July 26, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted legislative proposals to the Verkhovna Rada to approve decrees on extending the term of martial law and mobilization in Ukraine.

This will be the eighth extension of the term of martial law and mobilization since the full-scale invasion by Russia began. The last extension was from May until August 18.
