Today's massive shelling of Ukraine's energy system by Russia serves as a stark response to those advocating for an illusionary "Christmas truce," Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, reports.

"Another massive Russian strike against Ukraine's energy system. This Christmas terror is Putin's response to those who spoke about the illusionary 'Christmas ceasefire.' One Russian missile passed Moldovan and Romanian airspace, reminding us that Russia threatens not only Ukraine," states Sybiha.

However, a Romanian Defense Ministry spokesperson, Constantin Spînu, later did not confirm the information about a Russian missile's flight over the country's territory.

Massive attack on December 25

Since the beginning of its full-scale invasion, Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine's territory using artillery, missile systems, drones, and aviation.

Russian forces used Shahed kamikadze drones last night, and in the morning, they launched a massive strike with missiles and ballistics targeting energy infrastructure. Explosions were recorded in various regions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia fired more than 70 missiles and more than 100 drones during the attack.

'Christmas ceasefire'

Recently, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán claimed that Ukraine had rejected his proposed "Christmas truce," presented to both Ukrainian and Russian sides.

In response, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry urged Budapest to stop manipulating the idea of a "Christmas ceasefire.
