Russia launches over 70 missiles and 100 drones at Ukraine – Zelenskyy
Russia launched over 70 missiles and 100 drones at Ukraine on Christmas Day, December 25. Ukrainian forces managed to intercept over 50 missiles and a significant portion of the drones, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports.
"Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas for an attack. What could be more inhumane? Over 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, and more than a hundred attack drones. The targets are our energy infrastructure. They continue to fight for a blackout in Ukraine," Zelenskyy stated.
According to preliminary information, Ukrainian defenders shot down over 50 missiles and most of the drones launched by Russia late on the evening of December 24.
Ukraine's President also noted that some targets were hit, leading to power outages in several regions. Energy workers are currently working to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.
"I thank everyone who is working for the country, who is on combat duty, who is protecting our skies. We will restore the maximum. Russian evil will not break Ukraine and will not spoil Christmas," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Massive shelling of Ukraine
On the evening of December 24, it was reported that Russian forces had launched strike drones against Ukraine. Early on December 25, additional missiles of various types were fired.
The enemy once again targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The massive shelling resulted in rolling blackouts across the country.
Energy facilities were damaged in several regions, including the Ivano-Frankivsk and Poltava regions. In addition, Russian strikes hit Ukrainian thermal power plants, causing severe damage to their equipment.
