Russia mass attacks Ukraine's energy sector - Ministry of Energy
Russia is carrying out a massive attack on Ukraine on Wednesday, December 25. Once again, the energy sector is under attack, states the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko.
"The enemy is once again launching a massive attack on the energy sector. The transmission system operator is taking necessary measures to limit consumption to minimize the negative impact on the energy system," stated Halushchenko.
The minister added that as soon as the security situation allows, energy workers will assess the damage caused.
Shelling of Ukraine on December 25
On the night of December 25, Russian forces launched missiles at Ukraine. The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the launch of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea and ballistic missiles.
Due to the mass shelling, power outages were introduced across Ukraine by energy companies.
The authorities of Kharkiv reported a heavy shelling of the city, with casualties resulting from the attack.
