Kharkiv under massive attack: Hits reported, fires broke out
The Russian military is launching mass attacks on Kharkiv with ballistic missiles. Fires have erupted in the city, and infrastructure has been damaged, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
"Kharkiv is under a massive missile attack. A series of explosions have been heard in the city, and there are still ballistic missile launches towards the city. Stay in safe places," Terekhov writes.
According to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the Russian army has carried out at least seven strikes.
"Preliminary reports indicate one of the hits was in the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv. Relevant services have been dispatched for inspection. After the enemy strikes, several fires broke out, and there has been damage to civilian non-residential infrastructure," Syniehubov reports.
Emergency services are working to address the aftermath. According to him, a 39-year-old civilian man was injured. Emergency medical services have hospitalized the victim.
The threat of further strikes remains.
Updated at 07:40. In Kharkiv, in the Nemyshlianskyi district, a strike hit a private house. One person was injured.
In total, three people are known to have been injured in the city as a result of the attack.
On Christmas Eve, Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih with missiles, hitting a four-story residential building. As a result, 15 people were injured, and there was one fatality. Following this, Ukrainian regions were attacked by Shahed drones.
In the morning, the Russian army launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, firing from Tu-95MS aircraft and using Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea, as well as ballistic missiles.
