US President Donald Trump plans to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026, according to Bloomberg.
According to the publication, the decision for Trump to participate has been made, but his official attendance has not yet been publicly confirmed.
He is expected to arrive in Switzerland with a large delegation. In 2025, he participated in the forum remotely.
According to informed Bloomberg sources, this event could allow Switzerland to restore relations with the US after a tense situation last year.
In 2025, Bern was unable to reach a trade agreement with the US, resulting in the imposition of 39% tariffs on Swiss exports - the highest among those applied to developed economies.
These tariffs have been in effect since August, and Swiss authorities are actively seeking their revision.
Currently, Swiss negotiators are in Washington preparing the final version of an agreement to reduce the tariffs. They are scheduled to meet with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
