Sumy not to receive electricity due to nighttime enemy attack
In the city of Sumy, on the night of May 22, a power outage occurred as a result of a Russian attack on energy facilities. Prior to this, enemy strikes by Shaheds on energy facilities in Konotop and Shostka in the Sumy region were reported, according to the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration (RMA), Oleksiy Drozdenko.
It is noted that the regional center is currently not receiving electricity.
Power is being provided to critical infrastructure facilities in the city.
"Due to the enemy attack, the city of Sumy is not receiving electrical power. We are awaiting restoration and are prioritizing critical infrastructure," the official stated.
Night strikes by Shaheds
Earlier, it was reported that on the evening of May 21, Russian army launched Shahed kamikaze drones over Ukrainian territory, prompting air raid alerts in several regions.
Around midnight, reports indicated that enemy drones were heading toward Konotop and Shostka in the Sumy region, where explosions were heard. Additionally, an explosion was reported in the Poltava district during the air raid alert.
Later, the Sumy Regional Military Administration (RMA) stated that the Russian army has struck energy facilities in Konotop and Shostka in the Sumy region with Shaheds. As a result of the attack, there were power outages in the affected settlements.
