Sullivan and Stoltenberg expressed concern over military cooperation between Russia and North Korea
The United States National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg discussed a range of issues, including the war in Ukraine and cooperation between Russia and North Korea, according to the White House.
It is noted that during the meeting, Sullivan and Stoltenberg exchanged views on NATO's progress in defense production and expressed concern about Russia's procurement of military equipment in North Korea and its use in the war against Ukraine.
The Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Alliance highlighted the unwavering support of NATO allies for Ukraine, which continues to defend itself against Russian aggression.
They also welcomed Turkey's recent approval of Sweden's NATO membership and expressed a shared desire to see Stockholm join the alliance as soon as possible.
Military cooperation between North Korea and Russia
On January 4th, the White House National Security Council Coordinator, John Kirby, announced that Russia had acquired ballistic missiles from North Korea, which were already used in strikes against Ukraine.
Recently, the White House also stated that Russian occupiers continue to shell Ukraine with ballistic missiles from North Korea. However, North Korea denies this.
Representatives of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense stated that North Korea actively supplied ammunition to Russia throughout the fall. According to the agency's estimates, this involves approximately one million artillery shells.
It has also been revealed that Russian ships are being loaded in a North Korean port, as indicated by satellite imagery presented by the United Kingdom.
