Middle East escalation
Since February 28, a joint US-Israeli military operation called Epic Fury has been underway. As part of this operation, the military has deployed ships and fighter jets to launch massive strikes on Iranian targets.
At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces began striking targets belonging to the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In response, Tehran attacked US military facilities in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait.
In addition, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and threatened to destroy ships attempting to pass through this strategic route, which connects the Persian and Omani gulfs and accounts for about one-fifth of global oil exports.
