President of Finland Alexander Stubb is changing his travel plans due to the critical situation in Ukraine and will take part in talks in Berlin on December 15, according to Yle.

It is noted that Stubb had initially planned to visit Texas in the United States, but the trip was canceled. He will travel to Germany and take part in a meeting dedicated to a possible ceasefire in Ukraine.

The meeting, which will take place in the German capital, will focus on discussing a potential ceasefire in Ukraine. In particular, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has invited representatives of the United States to participate in the talks.

This followed a tense phone call between Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Donald Trump, during which the sides sought to overcome differences over the direction of peace efforts.

US peace plan

As a reminder, the White House administration has prepared a draft peace agreement intended to serve as a basis for ending the war. The initial version of the document contained 28 points.

After criticism from Kyiv and European partners, the document was partially revised and now includes about 20 points.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine, together with EU countries, has finalized its own peace plan and will soon submit it to the United States. According to him, three documents are currently being coordinated as part of the peace initiative: a framework agreement, a package of security guarantees, and a document outlining the principles of postwar recovery.

It also became known that US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with European leaders and Zelenskyy in Berlin. The event is of key importance in the context of the White House's efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine.
