"Israeli officials claim that among the targets of the strikes were Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei, President Pezeshkian, and other senior members of Iran’s political and military leadership. The results of the strikes remain unclear," the Axios journalist wrote.
At the same time, reports indicate that the primary goal of the US operation is Iran’s missile program.
According to the journalist, citing a US military official, the strikes are targeting launch sites on Iranian territory.
A source familiar with the situation previously told Reuters that Khamenei was not in Tehran and had been moved to a secure location.
An Iranian source close to the authorities said that several high-ranking commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and political figures were killed in the strikes.
Iranian media also reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is safe.
Strike on Iran
Today, February 28, Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran to eliminate security threats.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the introduction of an "immediate state of emergency across the entire country." According to him, the preemptive strike on Iran was necessary to neutralize existing threats to the State of Israel.
The attack on Iran is known to be a joint operation by Israel and the US.
US President Donald Trump said that the United States had launched a military campaign in Iran to eliminate threats posed by the current regime. The main objective of the operation, he said, is to protect the American people and US allies.
In response, Iran launched missiles toward Israeli territory.
