Stoltenberg reveals start date for NATO's Ukraine support command
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg states that NATO's command for coordinating support to Ukraine will begin operations in Germany in September.
He reminded NATO countries that they agreed to create a command to coordinate and provide security assistance and training to Ukraine.
"That command will be operational in September, it will be 700 personnel in Germany ... and it will provide the support and the security assistance to Ukraine and coordinate the efforts of NATO allies," he said.
NATO Summit in Washington
The 75th NATO Summit was held in Washington from July 9-11. At the summit, it was decided to strengthen NATO's presence in Ukraine, including appointing a special representative in Kyiv.
Also, at the NATO summit, an agreement was reached to create a structure for coordinating long-term assistance to Ukraine, known as the "NATO Support and Training for Ukraine" (NSATU).
Additionally, Stoltenberg appointed a senior representative to head the NATO Representation in Ukraine. Patrick Turner was appointed to this position.
