Starmer to meet Modi in India next week to boost strategic partnership

On Wednesday, October 8, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made his first visit to India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, reports Bloomberg.
India's Ministry of External Affairs said the leaders will meet in Mumbai to discuss the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the United Kingdom. The initiative aims to expand cooperation between the countries on a range of issues.
The meeting is also intended to strengthen engagement with business representatives and industry leaders after the free trade agreement was signed in July, when Modi visited the United Kingdom.
In addition, the leaders will attend the Global Fintech Fest, the 6th World Fintech Festival in Mumbai, and deliver keynote addresses.
"The visit will build on the momentum and substance generated by the visit of Prime Minister Modi to the UK on 23–24 July 2025. It will provide a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the shared vision of India and the United Kingdom to build a forward-looking partnership," the Indian Ministry of External Affairs summarized
