South Korea’s Parliament votes to lift martial law
On Tuesday, December 3, South Korea’s parliament passed a resolution calling for the lifting of martial law in the country imposed by President Yoon Suk Yeol, according to Yonhap.
The resolution was supported by 190 lawmakers. In total, there are 300 of them in the South Korean parliament.
The Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly (South Korea’s parliament) stated: " Following the voting by the National Assembly...emergency martial law declaration is invalid."
Under South Korean law, if Parliament demands the lifting of martial law by a majority vote, the President is obliged to lift it.

Earlier today, December 3, President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an "emergency martial law" in the country, accusing the opposition of controlling the parliament and paralyzing the government through anti-state activities.
In a televised briefing, the president described the imposition of martial law as critical for protecting the country’s constitutional order.
Later, South Korea's military command announced a ban on all political activities, including protests.
