South Korea approves impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol
On December 14, South Korea's National Assembly voted to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol. This decision followed the introduction of martial law on December 3, which caused a political crisis, the South Korean Yonhap news agency reports.
On Saturday, December 14, the National Assembly voted to impeach President Yun Seok Yeol over his botched imposition of martial law.
"An impeachment motion against Yoon passed 204-85, with three abstentions and eight invalid ballots," reported journalists on the voting results.
Situation with impeachment of South Korean President
On December 3, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law in the country. It was in effect for about six hours, after which the President apologized for this decision. But it didn't end there.
The other day, the police conducted searches in the office of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. They were carried out as part of an investigation initiated by local law enforcement officers.
As reported earlier, the impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol was announced on the second attempt. On December 7, the South Korean parliament failed to vote on President Yun Seok Yeol's impeachment. But on December 13, the South Korean opposition demanded a new vote.
