Sony raises prices for PlayStation 5: The reason why

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced an increase in the recommended retail prices for the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in certain regions of the world, including Europe. The company explains this decision as being due to inflation and a difficult economic situation, according to PlayStation.Blog.
At the same time, the price of the PS5 Pro remains unchanged, while the external disc drive for the PS5 has become cheaper. The changes took effect on April 14.
Prices for the PS5 Digital Edition have increased: in Europe, it now costs €499.99 instead of €449.99, in the UK – £429.99 instead of £389.99, in Australia – 749.95 Australian dollars instead of 679.95, and in New Zealand – 859.95 New Zealand dollars instead of 769.95.
The standard PS5 with a disc drive has only become more expensive in certain regions: in Australia, its price has increased to 829.95 Australian dollars (previously 799.95), and in New Zealand – to 949.95 New Zealand dollars (was 899.95). In Europe and the UK, the price remains unchanged.
