US President Donald Trump made his first statement after yesterday's talks in Geneva on a peace plan to end the war in Ukraine, according to the President's post on Truth Social.
"Is it really possible that big progress is being made in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine? Don’t believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening," the US President wrote on social media.
What is known about the peace plan
Earlier, US President Donald Trump approved a 28-point plan to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. The plan was drafted with the involvement of his special envoy, Keith Kellogg, Vice President JD Vance, Senator Marco Rubio, and others.
According to media reports, the document includes security guarantees for Ukraine that could ensure lasting peace.
At the same time, the plan contains concessions — in particular, on control over Donbas, including territories currently held by Kyiv, a reduction in the size of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and US military assistance, as well as partial recognition of Russian as a state language and support for the Russian Orthodox Church in the country.
On Sunday, November 23, Ukrainian and US delegations began negotiations in Geneva on this peace plan aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
On Monday morning, November 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is now at a critical moment. There is a lot of media furor and significant political pressure. He also added that Russia, by trying to formalize its demands on Ukraine’s territorial integrity, is exporting this approach to the rest of the world.
