Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that he supports all peace proposals regarding Ukraine. However, he did not specify what exactly he meant, according to his statement on Facebook.

According to Fico, he supports "all peace plans" and "all peace proposals for a ceasefire in Ukraine."

"Every day of war in Ukraine is associated with the mutual killing of Slavs, which I have rejected from the very beginning of the conflict. I am the prime minister of a country that loves peace and consistently pursues a sovereign Slovak foreign policy oriented in all four directions of the world," he wrote.

Fico's statements and Ukraine's response

On January 28, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy an "enemy" over the termination of Russian gas transit to European countries.

In response, Zelenskyy stated that Fico had chosen Moscow over America and was not committed to preserving his country's independence and sovereignty.

Fico's statement is likely linked to the recent mass protests that have erupted in Slovakia.

Earlier, Fico accused Ukraine of allegedly being involved in the protests.

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) also reacted to Fico's latest controversial remarks. The ministry sees them as an attempt to shift responsibility for his political failures onto Ukraine.

Fico previously stated Slovakia might not only halt electricity exports to Ukraine but also significantly reduce aid to Ukrainian refugees due to the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
