'Signals were more than positive': Zelenskyy on meetings in U.S.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the meetings he received positive signals from representatives of both parties of the U.S. Congress, according to the briefing at the White House.
During a joint briefing with U.S. President Joe Biden, Zelensky said he had spoken extensively with representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties and they assured him of their support.
"The signals were more than positive. But we know that there are words and results," the Ukrainian leader said.
He also noted that Ukraine has never doubted the support of the United States as a strategic partner. Zelenskyy expressed confidence that American assistance would continue and that we would not be left face-to-face with an enemy like the Russian Federation.
Zelenskyy's visit to the United States
The Ukrainian president is on a two-day visit to the United States on December 11-12.
On Tuesday, December 12, Zelenskyy met with U.S. President Joe Biden. In the Oval Office, the American leader signed an agreement to provide Ukraine with $200 million in financial assistance.
Biden also called on Congress not to give Vladimir Putin a "gift" and to approve financial assistance for Ukraine's defense needs before Congress goes on recess.
