Shelling in Donetsk region: Casualties reported
Russian military shelled the front-line towns of Ocheretyne and New York in the Donetsk region today, December 24. As a result of enemy shelling, civilians were affected, according to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
"Today, the Russian army focused its attention on settlements where there are no military facilities. According to preliminary information, it used guided aviation bombs against civilians," reported the prosecutor's office.
In the town of Ocheretyne, a 62-year-old man traveling in a car was injured. He sustained injuries to the thigh and mine-explosive trauma.
Two more civilians, a 68-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife, were injured in the town of New York. They were on their own property at the time of the enemy shelling.
"The couple managed to reach neighbors who called an ambulance. The victims suffered shrapnel injuries," added the prosecutor's office.
Pre-trial investigation is already underway regarding the facts of enemy shelling. The prosecutor's office is investigating violations of laws and customs of war.
Yesterday, Russians attacked an enterprise in Kurakhove, the Donetsk region. As a result of the enemy shelling, 5 people were affected. The wounded were taken to the hospital, but the condition of one of them was assessed as severe.
In recent days, Russians dropped two aerial bombs on Toretsk in the Donetsk region. At that time, three people died as a result of the enemy attack, and six others were injured.
