Serbian President responds to Moscow’s accusations of supplying weapons to Ukraine

Belgrade denies Moscow’s accusations of supplying ammunition to Ukraine through intermediaries, states Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, according to RTS.
Speaking about reports that Serbia is being openly criticized in the West for its good relations with Russia, while Moscow claims that "Belgrade is still sending ammunition to Kyiv through intermediary countries," Vučić noted that he discussed this issue separately with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Both in the presence of several people from both delegations and in private. Some of the claims made do not correspond to reality. For example, they specifically talk about an agreement with Czechia. But no permit was granted, and not a single missile was delivered," the Serbian president insisted.
He emphasized that, in his view, attacks on Serbia are frequent because the country is autonomous and independent.
"But one more thing — our factories must stay alive and operate. About 24,000 people are directly employed in the defense industry, and they rely on it. Right now, we are directing weapons to supply our own army," the Serbian president said.
He added that those who used to attack him for being a Russian spy are now accusing him of switching sides.
"No, gentlemen, we work only for Serbia," Vučić concluded.
Earlier today, on May 29, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service expressed dissatisfaction that Serbian defense companies, despite Belgrade’s declared neutrality, continue to supply ammunition to Ukraine.
Russia believes that Serbian companies sell ammunition using intermediary countries. NATO countries, primarily Czechia, Poland, and Bulgaria, are often mentioned in this scheme.
Back in 2023, there was a leak of classified Pentagon documents regarding the possible supply of Serbian ammunition to Ukraine. However, at that time, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić denied this information.
Additionally, he mentioned that Serbian export contracts include a ban on re-exporting to Ukraine.
