Serbian President called Putin first in over 2 years to thank him for gas
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić called Russian leader Vladimir Putin for the first time in 2.5 years. He thanked him for the gas.
In the published video, Vučić said that he and Putin had a “very good conversation.”
“We have not talked for almost two and a half years. We had a good, open, long, and meaningful conversation,” he said.
The Serbian president added that they exchanged views on all important bilateral issues, including economic ones. In particular, he thanked Putin for sufficient volumes of Russian gas for Serbia this winter.
In addition, Vučić said that the parties discussed cooperation and important political issues. He hopes that Serbia will not impose sanctions against Russia. Moreover, the president expressed hope for the development of Serbian-Russian relations and trust between the two countries.
He also thanked Putin for his congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from German occupation.
In September of this year, Vučić refused Putin's invitation and said that he would not participate in the BRICS summit in Russia.
At the same time, almost a week ago, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that BRICS could become an alternative to the EU and that the country would send a representative to the upcoming summit in Kazan.
