Security Service of Ukraine strikes Volgograd refinery with drones: Sources
Drones of the Security Service of Ukraine attacked an oil refinery in the Russian city of Volgograd. Subsequently, a fire broke out at the site, according to own sources of RBC-Ukraine.
Today's fire at one of Russia's largest oil refineries, located in Volgograd, was the result of a successful attack by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
According to sources, two drones targeted the primary oil processing unit, crucial for the plant's significant production capacity.
"The SSU continues systematically destroying the infrastructure that Russia uses for its war in Ukraine. By targeting oil refineries tied to the Russian military-industrial complex, we not only disrupt the fuel supply logistics for enemy vehicles but also diminish contributions to the Russian budget," reports the source.
What else is known about the attack
On the night of February 3, Russians reported drone attacks in the Belgorod and Volgograd regions. Specifically, explosions were heard in the vicinity of the Lukoil oil refinery in Volgograd.
Propagandist media claim that drones attacked the oil refinery, leading to a subsequent fire. Information regarding casualties and injuries has not been provided.
Other attacks on Russian oil refineries
It is worth noting that Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries are becoming increasingly systematic. Recently, a drone targeted one of the largest oil refineries in Yaroslavl.
Prior to this, sources from RBC-Ukraine reported that SSU drones struck an oil refinery in Tuapse, resulting in a significant fire.
We also reported that SSU drones effectively targeted the Ust-Luga Oil oil terminal, where fuel, including supplies for the Russian military, is processed.
