Security Service of Ukraine's drones struck Russian oil depot with 20 fuel tanks
The oil depot in the Voronezh region of Russia that was attacked at night contained dozens of fuel tanks. The facility was struck by drones of the Security Service of Ukraine, RBC-Ukraine sources say.
Last night, the Security Service of Ukraine drones together with the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck Russia's Annanefteprodukt oil depot. This facility is located near the village of Anna in the Voronezh region of Russia.
The source says that there were 20 tanks with fuel and lubricants on the territory of the oil depot. Russian air defense was actively, but unsuccessfully, operating in the area of the base.
At the same time, the local media wrote about five powerful drone arrivals, which led to a massive fire.
“In addition to active work on Russian airfields, missile depots, and missile silos, the SSU does not forget about oil depots on Russian territory. They are an important logistical component of warfare,” the source added.
Night drone attack on oil depots in Russia
On the night of October 4, 2024, 2 oil depots in Russia were on fire at once - in the Voronezh region and the Perm region. In particular, in the latter, the area of fire at the oil depot amounted to 10,000 square meters.
In the Voronezh region, local governor Alexander Gusev said that the fire at the tank farm allegedly started on an empty tank after a drone attack.
In the morning, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed that a strike had indeed been carried out at night on a fuel and lubricant storage base in the Voronezh region of Russia. It was confirmed that at least one of the vertical tanks was hit, and a fire broke out there.
Ukrainian drones are systematically hitting the Russian targets on its territory to reduce its potential for warfare. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained earlier, such actions are a response to the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector.
