Ukraine is already discussing potential security guarantees with its partners. One of the key conditions is that such guarantees must be legally binding, states Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha following a meeting with his counterparts from the Benelux countries, according to Ukrinform.

According to Sybiha, Ukraine needs to achieve quick results regarding security guarantees. Following meetings in Washington, negotiation teams were established to work on this issue.

He clarified that the military component of the guarantees, which is the most important and fundamental, is already being discussed at the level of national security advisors. Several meetings have been held to develop security guarantees.

"It is crucial that the security guarantees we are discussing carry a legally binding character. This is fundamental and solid. For us, this will effectively be a contribution to a future stable security architecture, not only in Europe, because the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific region are interconnected," the Foreign Minister said.

Security guarantees for Ukraine

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine, together with its partners, is preparing a configuration of security guarantees ahead of a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The United States is also expected to play a role in providing security guarantees to Ukraine. On August 25, President Donald Trump assured that Europe would provide Ukraine with "significant" guarantees, while the US would act in a supportive role.

At the same time, CNN, citing sources, reported that the US might send its pilots to Ukraine.
