The United States did not make any political decision to suspend arms supplies to Ukraine. The suspension of supplies was caused by a review of existing US military stockpiles, says US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a press conference.

"It was a very limited review of certain types of munitions to ensure that we had sufficient stockpiles. And it's typical when you do these reviews that there's a short-term pause," he explained.

Rubio added that no one made any political decision not to transfer weapons to Ukraine. There was a review of existing stockpiles, during which the supply of some ammunition was put on hold.

"In fact, the review comes back that you have a shortage, you can't pull it back once it's been sent. But generally speaking, aid to Ukraine continues along the schedule that Congress appropriated... But in the end, I would say that the overwhelming majority of defense of military aid that the United States provides Ukraine has never been paused and continues along the same schedules that it's been," the Secretary of State noted.

Rubio admitted that initially, there was no adequate communication about the real situation. This mistake has now been corrected.

Resumption of US arms supplies to Ukraine

Ukraine stopped receiving military aid from the United States on July 2. Initially, the White House confirmed this information, but when a major scandal erupted, it was forced to explain that the decision was temporary - it was done to check the stocks of weapons in American warehouses.

Deliveries began to resume after US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call on July 4. Following the conversation, Trump noted that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was responsible for numerous killings and did not rule out the transfer of another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.

Speaking to American journalists, Trump said that he had not thought about who was responsible for the suspension of supplies to Ukraine. According to media reports, the decision was made by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. He allegedly did not inform either Trump or Congress about it.
