Rutte promises 'important language' regarding Ukraine in NATO summit declaration

In the final statement of the NATO summit in The Hague, taking place from June 24 to 25, there will be important wording regarding Ukraine, according to a press conference of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Rutte was asked whether Ukraine would be left on the sidelines of the NATO summit, given that it will not be mentioned in the final declaration. Additionally, there are no plans to hold a Ukraine-NATO Council meeting.
"You will find in the communiqué, which has now been agreed by the ambassadors, the North Atlantic Council, you will see important language about Ukraine, including connecting the defense spending up to 2035 to Ukraine and the need for Ukraine to stay in the fight. This is a clear commitment by allies," emphasized the Secretary General.
He also noted that during the summit, there will be one session with the 32 leaders attending the summit. There will also be a separate session with the EU and many smaller meetings. Therefore, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will participate in various formats.

Earlier, Bloomberg reviewed a draft of the final document for the NATO summit in The Hague.
The outlet noted that the document will not include a promise to admit Ukraine into the Alliance. In the past two years, the final statements of NATO summits referred to Ukraine’s membership as inevitable.
