Russia’s Ryazan is under a mass drone attack, with air defense activated. Local channels report more than a dozen explosions near the oil refinery, according to Russian media.
"Ryazan is under attack, the local oil refinery is being targeted, and residents report more than 10 explosions," local channels wrote alongside footage.
Videos and photos taken by eyewitnesses show a glow in the sky, explosions, fire, and smoke.
Local channels are urging residents to stay safe and avoid filming air-defense activity. People in Ryazan are also being warned not to touch debris from downed drones, as it may not only be explosive but also toxic.
"Fragments of downed UAVs may contain explosives and be equipped with timed detonators. Do not approach them… Keep everyone away from the debris until emergency services arrive. Do not pick up fragments or shrapnel from detonated UAVs, as they may contain poisonous substances," the Ryazan Proisshestviya channel wrote.
Russian channels also reported drones flying at the height of residential buildings in the Ryazan region.
So far, there has been no confirmation or denial of the attack from local authorities.
Yesterday, during Russia’s mass strike on Ukraine, the missiles were launched from the Ryazan region.
Recent attacks on Russian oil infrastructure
Earlier, drones struck the oil terminal in Novorossiysk, a strike acknowledged by Ukraine’s General Staff. According to Reuters, the attack halted 2% of global oil shipments.
We previously reported on the 14 November strikes on Novorossiysk and Engels using Neptune missiles and drones, which dealt a significant blow to Russia’s oil industry.
