Sumy was hit by a drone attack by Russian forces early in the morning. One person was killed, another injured, and industrial sites were struck, according to the Acting Mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar.

"Today, three strikes by Shahed-type UAVs on industrial facilities were recorded," he said in his video address at 05:16 AM.

Later, he clarified that all three enemy Shahed-type attack drones struck the same building.

"The structure was damaged, and the roof was destroyed. According to preliminary information, one person was killed. Another person sought medical assistance," Kobzar said.

He also noted that emergency services were working at the site of the Russian airstrikes.

Previous Russian drone attacks

In the evening, in the Kherson region, two road service workers were killed due to a drone attack. According to the head of the regional administration, in the village of Stiyke, the Russian drone hit special equipment during repair work, resulting in two fatalities.

Additionally, on April 17th in Kherson, Russian forces attacked an ambulance, injuring both a medic and a driver.

In the evening, a blast occurred in Mykolaiv amid the threat of drone attacks. The regional administration and city authorities reported a strike by an unknown type of rocket drone and mentioned a large fire caused by the shelling.

Later, the State Emergency Service showed photos of the aftermath of the drone attack in Mykolaiv and reported that rescuers had already extinguished the large fire. The SES also clarified that the fire involved warehouses with household goods belonging to a private enterprise.
