Russians kill Ukrainian rescuers responding to fire after previous Russian attack
Rescuers came under fire during a Russian attack in the Zaporizhzhia region on November 15. Two soldiers of the State Emergency Service were killed, and three more were wounded, reports the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.
"Unfortunately, two employees of the State Emergency Service were killed as a result of enemy shelling. Our unarmed heroes are now forever 31 and 34," he says.
In addition, according to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, three more rescuers were injured.
"Four civilians were also injured," Klymenko adds.
Circumstances of shelling
As the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes, the Russians once again fired at civilian infrastructure, which caused the fire. Employees of the State Emergency Service were already at the scene in a matter of minutes. Then the occupiers struck again.
The State Emergency Service showed photos of the dead rescuers.
"Vitalii Nakaryakov and Serhii Dorohokuplia. Young, dedicated rescuers. Their lives were cynically cut short by Russia today. Vitalii will forever remain 31, Serhii - 34," the Emergency Service says.
Shelling of the Zaporizhzhia region
Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia region with rockets on Wednesday, November 15. The head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Yurii Malashko initially reported that one person died and seven were injured. At the same time, he did not specify that rescuers were among the wounded and dead. As we can see, according to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, the number of victims due to shelling has increased to 2 people, both employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
