Russians form strike group near Pokrovsk, may shift priorities – ISW
Russians are forming a strike group south of Pokrovsk. This could indicate Russia's plans to change its tactical priorities, according to a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The central Russian military grouping has concentrated a strike force, which includes units from the 2nd and 41st combined arms armies, south of Pokrovsk.
According to ISW analysts, this decision by the Russian military command suggests that the occupation forces may change their tactical priorities in the Pokrovsk direction, in order to create conditions for advancing towards Pokrovsk from the flanks using more favorable routes.
The report also mentions that the 15th and 30th motorized rifle brigades, as well as the 348th motorized rifle regiment, are currently resting and recovering in rear areas of the Pokrovsk direction. It remains unclear which direction the Russian military command will decide to redeploy these forces to.
"The Russian military command may redeploy these units to areas south of Pokrovsk if the Russian command continues to prioritize tactical advances in the direction of Pokrovsk’s southern flanks in the coming weeks and months," the analysts note.
