The situation in Pokrovsk remains stable, there are no Russians there. At the same time, the Russian troops want to surround the city, but they are far from this goal, states Viktor Trehubov, representative of the Khortytsia unit.

"In Pokrovsk, in the city itself, the situation is not developing, it is stable - there is no enemy there. We have already had to counteract the information thrown into the network that he allegedly went there. This is simply not true," he said.

According to the military, the Russian army is trying to take hold of the area south of Pokrovsk to advance southwest of the settlement and cut off logistics routes.

"What is happening in the settlements south of Pokrovsk? These are, for example, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, and Zelene. There are constant battles there, constant attempts by the enemy to take hold of this area, to make a base and advance. Not even to Pokrovsk itself, but to the southwest of Pokrovsk to cut off logistics routes. Mostly the routes come from the Dnipro region. The Russians are still far from this goal, but they are trying," Trehubov said.

He emphasized that Ukrainians' efforts are focused on preventing the enemy from doing so.

As of 4 p.m. today, January 18, 89 combat engagements took place in the frontline. The largest number of engagements was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction.
