Russians face difficulties monitoring ship movements after Ukrainian cyberattack – Sources
Hackers from Ukraine's Defense Intelligence launched a cyberattack on Russia's satellite communications. As a result, the enemy had problems monitoring maritime traffic, according to RBC-Ukraine's sources in the intelligence.
As they reported, the cyber strike targeted the IT infrastructure of the national mobile satellite communication operator Morsviazsputnik. Russia's state maritime traffic control system was also hit.
In addition, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine targeted the transport and logistics company Fesco, as well as the enterprises Rosmorport and Rosmorrechport.
As a result of the cyberattack, systematic failures occurred, disrupting access to the websites and electronic resources of the targeted entities. There was also instability in satellite communications used for monitoring and controlling maritime traffic.
The intelligence emphasized that Russian media were instructed to conceal the fact of the cyberattack, making it impossible to assess the economic damage inflicted on Russian facilities.
