Russian volunteer troops announce massive strike on military targets in Belgorod
Russian volunteer troops of the Freedom of Russia Legion and Siberian Battalion have announced their intention to launch a massive strike on Russian military targets in Belgorod. They ask locals to seek shelter, according to the FRL Telegram channel.
"Attention! Residents of Belgorod and the region! Today at 5.00 pm (Moscow time), a massive strike will be carried out on military objects and positions of the Russian Armed Forces in Belgorod," the statement said.
Representatives of volunteer units addressed Belgorod's civilian population and the region who have not yet evacuated.
"We urge everyone who has not yet left the region to immediately take shelter!" they declared.
In a joint statement with the Siberian Battalion, the FRL urged Belgorod residents not to become a "living shield for Putin's forces."
"Take care of yourselves and your loved ones," they added.
Russian volunteers' raid in the border regions
On March 12, the Russian Volunteer Corps along with two other units breached the border with Russia and took control of several settlements, including in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
Earlier, Russian volunteer units announced strikes on Russian military positions in Belgorod and Kursk. Residents of the Belgorod and Kursk regions were urged to evacuate. Later, the volunteers reiterated their call for evacuation.
Also today, there were reports of explosions and a fire in Belgorod, despite the Russian Ministry of Defense reporting "successful" air defense operations. Later on Saturday, it became known that educational institutions and shopping centers in the Belgorod region will be closed due to shelling.
RBC-Ukraine sources within intelligence reported that the Russian authorities were blocking the evacuation of civilians in the Belgorod region.
