Educational institutions and malls in Belgorod region to close because of shelling
In the Belgorod region and Belgorod, shopping centers, schools, and colleges will be suspended due to shelling, according to the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
"I see a large number of appeals. Based on the current situation, we have decided that shopping centers in Belgorod and the Belgorod region will not operate on Sunday and Monday," said Gladkov.
Additionally, schools and colleges in the region will also have days off from Monday to Tuesday.
Russian Volunteer Corps' raid
On March 12, the Russian Volunteer Corps, along with two other units, breached the border with Russia and took control of several settlements, including those in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
Earlier, Russian volunteers announced strikes on Russian military positions in Belgorod and Kursk. Residents of the Belgorod and Kursk regions were urged to evacuate. Later, the volunteers reiterated their call for evacuation.
Also today, March 16, there were reports of explosions and fires in Belgorod, despite the Russian Ministry of Defense reporting "successful" air defense operations.
Sources from RBC-Ukraine in intelligence reported that the Russian authorities are blocking the evacuation of civilians in the Belgorod region.
