The commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, Denis Kapustin, is alive, and the money allocated for his assassination will be used to strengthen special units of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR)
The assassination of the RVC commander — a unit fighting against Russian forces as part of HUR’s Tymur Special Unit — was ordered by Russian special services, which allocated $500,000 for the operation.
"Welcome back!" — HUR chief Kyrylo Budanov greeted Denis Kapustin and the special forces team that outwitted Russian intelligence services.
As a result of a special operation that lasted more than a month, Kapustin’s life was saved. Ukrainian intelligence also identified the заказчики (masterminds) within Russian special services and the direct perpetrators.
"Our side also obtained the funds allocated by Russian intelligence services to carry out this crime. As of now, the RVC commander is on Ukrainian territory and is preparing to continue fulfilling assigned tasks," the commander of the Tymur Special Unit reported to Budanov.
"Welcome back to life"
The head of HUR congratulated Denis Kapustin, who joined the briefing via video link.
"First of all, Mr. Denis, congratulations on your return to life. That is always a pleasure. I am glad that the money received for ordering your assassination went toward supporting our struggle. I wish all of us, and you personally, success," Budanov said.
Kapustin, callsign White Rex, emphasized his readiness to continue commanding the unit and carrying out combat and special missions.
"My temporary absence did not affect the quality or success of combat missions. I am ready to move to the area of operations and continue commanding the RVC unit," he said.
Recall that reports of Denis Kapustin’s alleged death appeared on December 27. It was claimed that he had been killed on the Zaporizhzhia front as a result of an FPV drone strike.
