On the morning of March 26, a fire broke out on the Russian refrigeration vessel Crystal Asia, eight kilometers from the Kamcheon port in Busan, South Korea. There are victims among the crew, according to RIA Novosti.

According to a representative of the shipowner, Trans Wind Fleet, the fire on the ship was caused by an explosion in the engine room.

According to the Consulate General of the Russian Federation (RF), 23 people were on board the ship at the time of the fire, including 22 Russians. Currently, six Russian citizens are known to have been injured, two of whom are in serious condition.

“Most of the people were injured because they were cut by the windows (as a result of the blast wave - ed.),” the source told RIA Novosti.

The cause of the explosion in the engine room is currently unknown.

"The ship is currently moored in the port of Busan, undergoing repairs. Prior to that, minor repairs were carried out in Korea, and the ship went on a voyage without cargo," the source added.

RBС-Ukraine reported that last year, two ships collided in St. Petersburg, Russia. Prior to that, a fire broke out on the top deck of the M.V. Lomonosov ship in the Arkhangelsk region.
