Russian forces launched missile strikes on the Ukrainian cities of Dnipro and Samar in the Dnipropetrovsk region earlier today, June 24. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, more than 160 people have been reported injured so far.

"In the Dnipropetrovsk region, aid is being provided to everyone affected by the Russian ballistic missile strike. At this moment, more than 160 people are known to be injured. Sadly, 11 people have been killed," he said.

According to the president, search and rescue operations are still ongoing, so the death toll may rise.

Zelenskyy noted that the Russian strike damaged a significant amount of civilian infrastructure, including homes, schools, and even a passenger train. Around 500 people were on board at the time.

"Five train cars were destroyed. There were no fatalities. All the injured received medical assistance. Another Russian strike on life itself," he said.

Zelenskyy added that Russia cannot produce ballistic missiles without components from other countries. Moreover, it cannot manufacture hundreds of other types of weapons without foreign parts, equipment, and expertise that the regime in Moscow does not possess.

"That's why it is crucial to shut down the networks linking Russia to its partners. There must be a significant strengthening of sanctions against Russia," he added.

According to the president, Russia's war against Ukraine is not a conflict where choosing a side is difficult.

"Standing with Ukraine means defending life. I am grateful to everyone who is helping. Right now, day by day, we are doing everything we can to increase support for our people and our country," he said.
