Russian strike on Ukraine December 23: Kinzhals, Iskanders, and hundreds of drones

On the night of December 23, Russian forces carried out a massive combined strike on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, using missiles and hundreds of attack drones, reports the Air Force.
In total, 673 aerial attack means were recorded:
- 635 attack drones of the Shahed and Gerbera types (and other drones) launched from Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Chauda Cape and Crimea (around 400 of them were Shaheds);
- 3 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles (launch areas – Ryazan region, Russia);
- 35 cruise missiles Kh-101 and Iskander-K (launch areas – Vologda and Kursk regions, Russia).
Ukraine's air defense forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups, and drone units were involved in repelling the attack.
Preliminary data as of 11:30 AM local time shows that air defense destroyed or suppressed 621 aerial targets, including 587 attack drones and 34 cruise missiles.
At the same time, missile and drone strikes hit 21 locations, and debris fell in eight other areas. Three Kinzhal missiles failed to reach their targets. Information on the full consequences and possible damages is being verified.
December 23 Attack on Ukraine
During the night and morning, Russian forces launched another large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, using over 600 attack drones and dozens of missiles.
As of 07:50 AM Kyiv time, emergency power outages were reported in most regions of the country.
In Kyiv, debris from an enemy drone fell in the Sviatoshynskyi district, injuring at least four people, according to preliminary reports.
In the Sumy region, a critical infrastructure facility in Shostka was destroyed by Russian drone strikes, leaving a significant part of the city without electricity and heating.
The Rivne region was also affected. Preliminary reports indicate damage to a residential apartment building, with windows blown out by the blast wave. A wooden utility structure was destroyed, and three vehicles were damaged.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia might carry out massive strikes during the Christmas period, despite Kremlin claims of no so-called "Christmas truce."
